Welcome to Grey’s Breast Cancer Awareness Weekend! We’re working in conjunction with Durham Uni Boob Team and CoppaFeel! to get you all clued up on Breast Cancer, which in the UK can affect 1 in 8 women, and almost 400 men each year as well.
We’re encouraging you to start checking your breasts and pecs for the following symptoms:
Lump, hard knot or thickening in the breast, chest or underarm area (usually painless, but may be tender)
Dimpling, puckering or redness of the skin of the breast
Change in the size or shape of the breast
Itchy, scaly sore or rash on the nipple
Pulling in of the nipple (inverted nipple) or other parts of the breast
Nipple discharge (rare)
If you notice any of the warning signs or other changes in your breast, chest or nipple, see a doctor right away.
If you want to be reminded to check yourself, you can sign up for DU Boob Team’s text service, which you can do by texting "UBT DUR'" to 70500!
Make sure you give Durham Uni Boob Team’s Facebook page a like, for some great events and to learn more about this important issue: https://www.facebook.com/Durham-Uni-Boob-Team-372123869524840/
Here’s how to actually check your chest: https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/breast-self-exam
If you have further questions, you can email Heather Boal, DU Boob Team’s President and CoppaFeel! Volunteer at firstname.lastname@example.org!
Tomorrow afternoon(Sunday 18th), we’re running a Treasure Hunt around Grey; The first clue will be in tomorrow’s email so get ready to wrack your brains on the clues!
